At Hollywood Playpen Recorders, Our House Is Your House

Formerly occupied by Tutti Camarata, the founder of L.A.'s historic and monumental Sunset Sound, HPR has since housed a bevy of very talented producers and engineers. With Ruddy Lee Cullers now at the helm, the green house on the Sunset Sound lot can add another name to that list.

At HPR, our house is truly your house. HPR consists of several rooms including; A spacious control room suitable for lounging/ mixing and writing/ recording sketches of your music; 2 live rooms filled with all the instruments and gear you’d want to make it happen, as well as a back room adaptable for use as an isolated amp recording room, separated lounge and/or production work room. And obviously, being a professional house studio we have your kitchen and eating area and full private bathroom.

What sets HPR apart? We have unique gear that creates and adds eclectic color to your vision, competitive deals, a very central and sought after location and we also have Ruddy Lee of course.

Ruddy Lee Cullers is a decades long professional engineer with a list of credits to envy. Ruddy has been utilized, studied and copied on sessions by other producers and engineers curious about just how he does it. Besides being the gear head that he is, and besides the wealth of gear he has amassed over the years, Ruddy also has that X factor you can't teach or buy - style, taste and a good nature. Ruddy is a well loved personality and professional as evidenced by his happy and repeat customers. Especially by those who truly know music and recording.

Co-owner and studio manager, Sylvia Black, is also a professional bassist and vocalist, platinum selling hit songwirter, producer and creative artist - both musically and visually, as a motion graphic and video artist.

So if you're looking to record your band, start a writing session, produce your project, or just play around in a historic and uniquely creative professional space, look no further. This is an exciting time as we welcome Ruddy into the position he was destined for. You'll be in good hands at our house. 

Ruddy is available as your engineer, mixer and/or producer/ co-producer. We are also happy to step back and simply provide assistance on your own self contained project.
